Title I Family Involvement Opportunities:

March 22nd – Local Title I School Planning Sessions -  We are currently planning for the 2016-17 school year.  We will hold meetings on Tuesday, March 22 at 1:00 and again at 5:30.  During these times, we will share the system policies and our school’s Title I policies.  We are seeking parent participation and feedback as we revise the district Consolidated Local Implementation Plan (CLIP) and Parent Involvement Policy, as well as Gray Station Middle School’s Title I Parental Involvement Policy and School-Parent Compacts.

March 24th Georgia Milestones Assessment Question and Answer Sessions - The Georgia Milestones Assessment System (Georgia Milestones) is a comprehensive summative assessment pro​gram spanning grades 3 through high school.  Georgia Milestones measures how well students have learned the knowledge and skills outlined in the state-adopted content standards in language arts, mathematics, science, and social studies.  Students in grades 3 through 8 take an end-of-grade assessment in each content area, while high school students take an end-of-course assessment for each of the ten courses designated by the State Board of Education.

Please join us for one of the question and answer sessions on March 24th at 8:45, 12:30, or 1:45 to help you and your student feel more prepared for the upcoming State assessments.

March 28th Family Academic Night - Gray Station Middle School will host our annual Family Academic Night on March 28th from 5:30 to 7:00.  We will have many hands-on, interactive activities that all family members can participate in and enjoy.  We will also have displays and exhibits along with groups and organizations from all over Middle Georgia.  You will not want to miss this free event for the whole family!

What is Title I?

Title I, Part A is a part of the Elementary and Secondary Education Act of 1965 (ESEA). This act provides federal funds through the Georgia Department of Education to local educational agencies (LEAs) and public schools with high percentages of poor children to help ensure that all children meet challenging State academic content and student academic achievement standards.

GSMS is a  School-wide Title I School, and is not in need of improvement, according to Federal guidelines.  If you have questions pertaining to Federal programs at Gray Station, please contact Principal, Wes Cavender at (478) 986-2090 or Title I Director, Dr. Gail Wincey at (478) 986-3032.

Title I Information
Parents Right to Know

In compliance with the requirements of The Elementary and Secondary Education Act (ESEA) the Jones County School System informs parents that you may request information about the professional qualifications of your student’s teacher(s).  The following information may be requested:

1.  Whether the teacher has met the Georgia Professional Standards Commission requirements for certification for the grade level and subject areas in which the teacher provides instruction;
2.  Whether the teacher is teaching under an emergency or other provisional status through which Georgia qualifications or certification criteria have been waived;
3.  The college major and any graduate certification or degree held by the teacher;
4.  Whether the student is provided services by paraprofessionals, and if so, their qualifications.
